According to the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, the Government has approved an investment of ₹417 crore for establishing an Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC 2.0) in Gautam Buddha Nagar, Uttar Pradesh.

Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Information Technology Minister said, "The project will lead to the creation of world-class infrastructure and generate 15,000 jobs. It is fully in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of promoting manufacturing in India. It reflects the government’s sharp focus on job creation and building a Viksit Bharat".

The cluster will be developed on 200 acres of land by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) and is expected to attract investments worth around ₹2,500 crore. The cluster shall cater to consumers in electronics, automotive and industrial electronics, medical devices, computer hardware, and communication equipment industries.

At EMC 2.0, manufacturers will get essentially plug-and-play infrastructure, common facilities, and dedicated support for startups and MSMEs. The planned infrastructure consists of factory sheds; electricity and water supply; sewage treatment; hostels; skill development centres; and health facilities. This type of infrastructure system will help cut logistics and infrastructure costs.

Positioned strategically along the Yamuna Expressway, Eastern Peripheral Expressway, and the upcoming Palwal–Khurja Expressway, the site is very well connected. Close to major centers of activity, it is also near the proposed Jewar International Airport, Medical Device Park, and MSME & Apparel Park.

The ministry further noted that the EMC scheme has already brought in 520 companies and generated about 86,000 jobs, with investments worth around ₹30,000 crore.

A letter of intent was issued to Dixon Technologies for 22.5 acres in YEIDA EMC at Sector 10 near Noida International Airport to establish a manufacturing plant for mobile phones, telecom equipment, lighting products, and white goods, thus becoming the third company in the cluster.
