Trade and investments have become important aspects of this discourse. India and Belgium have noted the increasing bilateral trade between both nations, and deliberated on ways through which greater business collaboration can be promoted and more investments facilitated in manufacturing, logistics, pharmaceuticals, green tech and ICT sectors. Both the nations have understood that there is a need to create an environment that will support businesses in building cross-border partnerships and economic development.

The issues of technology and innovation also figured high on the agenda. Both parties looked into possibilities for increasing cooperation in technologies, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, cyber security, and research and development. Both parties stressed the importance of creating partnerships based on innovation through collaboration among academia, research centres, and industry.

Regional and international security matters were also an integral part of the discussion. India and Belgium shared their perspectives on geopolitics, maritime security, counter-terrorism, cyber security, and the need for a rule-based international order. Both nations emphasized their resolve to enhance cooperation in tackling security concerns while ensuring peace and stability through international institutions.

It was acknowledged by both parties that the need for green technology and sustainable infrastructure is becoming increasingly important for economic resilience in the long run.

The start of the Strategic Dialogue provides a platform for developing the relations between India and Belgium in all the sectors. The mechanism would help to achieve a better coordination of policies, development of economic and technical cooperation, as well as creation of new possibilities for cooperation. Given that India and Belgium have been developing their strategic and emerging sectors recently, the dialogue will become important for strengthening the bilateral relationship in the future.
