India, Germany Discuss Energy Security and Carbon Markets

India and Germany discuss stronger energy cooperation, focusing on energy security, electrification, low-carbon development, carbon markets and supply-chain diversification to support a secure, affordable and sustainable energy future.

Discussions regarding methods that could help boost India-Germany’s bilateral cooperation in the energy field are held at a bilateral meeting in New Delhi between the Union Power and Housing & Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal and German Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Climate Protection and Nuclear Safety Carsten Schneider. Issues discussed include energy security, electrification, low-carbon development, carbon market and supply chain diversification.

These two ministers analyse the existing programs and also try to find new areas where they can collaborate on energy matters. This comes at a time when India and Germany are celebrating their relationship after 75 years of diplomatic ties and also 25 years since their strategic partnership.
