Rwanda is inviting Indian investors to explore opportunities in critical minerals, healthcare, manufacturing, tourism and creative industries. Growing India-Rwanda cooperation could support mineral supply-chain diversification and expand bilateral investment.

Rwanda is seeking to deepen economic and investment ties with India by inviting Indian companies to explore opportunities across critical minerals, healthcare, manufacturing, tourism and creative industries. The opportunities were highlighted at an Investment and Tourism Opportunities Event hosted by Rwanda’s High Commission in India in Bengaluru on August 28.

The event, hosted by Rwanda’s High Commissioner to India Jacqueline Mukangira and Honorary Consul of Rwanda in Bengaluru Suresh Mohan, brought together representatives from India’s business, government, healthcare, banking, hospitality, aviation and entertainment sectors. The engagement highlighted Rwanda’s efforts to attract international capital, technology and expertise.

Critical minerals emerged as a strategic area of cooperation. Rwanda is known for deposits of tin, tungsten and tantalum, commonly referred to as the “3Ts”, which are widely used in electronics, manufacturing, aerospace and defence applications. The country is also exploring opportunities involving lithium, beryllium and rare earth bearing minerals.

Rwanda’s mineral revenues increased from around $373 million in 2017 to $1.75 billion in 2024, while the country is seeking to expand domestic processing and capture greater value from its mineral resources. For India, cooperation in this sector could support efforts to diversify critical-mineral supply chains supporting electric vehicles, renewable energy, electronics and defence manufacturing.

The discussions also highlighted healthcare as an important area for Indian participation. Rwanda is looking to expand healthcare infrastructure and services, creating opportunities for Indian companies and institutions with expertise in healthcare delivery, technology and operations.

Manufacturing, tourism and creative industries were also presented as potential investment avenues. Rwanda encouraged Indian filmmakers to consider the country for film and visual productions, while its tourism pitch focused on its landscapes, volcanic mountains, lakes and renowned gorilla tourism.

The Bengaluru event followed the first India-Rwanda Joint Trade Committee meeting held in New Delhi on July 30-31. During the meeting, both countries identified critical minerals, healthcare and digital technologies as priority areas, while Rwanda highlighted opportunities in mining, agro-processing, manufacturing, tourism, healthcare and financial services.

India is already Rwanda’s second-largest foreign investor as of 2025. The two countries are also exploring greater cooperation between the Geological Survey of India and Rwanda’s mining authorities for geological mapping, mineral exploration and responsible resource development.

The growing engagement positions Rwanda as a potential partner for Indian businesses seeking new markets, investment opportunities and diversified mineral supply chains across Africa.
