India and Kazakhstan review the full spectrum of bilateral ties and reaffirm their commitment to deepen the strategic partnership through stronger political, economic and investment cooperation.
India and Kazakhstan have reviewed the full spectrum of their bilateral relations and reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the strategic partnership through closer cooperation and tangible outcomes. The discussions took place between India’s Ambassador to Kazakhstan Y.K. Sailas Thangal and Kazakhstan’s newly appointed Deputy Foreign Minister Arman Issagaliyev in Astana.
The two sides assessed the progress of bilateral engagement and discussed opportunities to deepen mutual understanding and cooperation. The meeting followed the recent interaction between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on the sidelines of the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi, which provided fresh momentum to bilateral ties.

India and Kazakhstan have identified several areas for expanding cooperation, including trade, investment, energy, digitalisation, high technologies, connectivity, critical minerals and creative industries. Both countries have also been seeking to strengthen business-to-business engagement and address challenges related to logistics, customs, payments, market access and regulatory issues.
Economic cooperation remains an area with further potential. During the India-Kazakhstan Strategic Dialogue held in Astana in September, India’s Ambassador highlighted the need to increase bilateral trade and investment. He pointed to opportunities for Indian businesses in Kazakhstan’s energy, critical minerals, agriculture and logistics sectors, while noting Kazakhstan’s potential as an economic partner in Central Asia.
The two countries are also working to expand cooperation through multilateral platforms, including BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA) and the United Nations. Both sides have emphasised the importance of regional stability and continued coordination on issues of common interest.
Recent engagements have also focused on strengthening sector-specific business links. India has facilitated pharmaceutical, construction, technology and other business delegations and participated in trade exhibitions in Kazakhstan. The two countries have explored greater cooperation in energy, critical minerals, tourism, medical tourism and emerging technologies.
