India, Poland Strengthen Strategic Partnership Amid Challenges
- India and Poland strengthened their strategic partnership, focusing on trade, defense, and technology
- Jaishankar urged Poland to adopt a zero-tolerance approach to terrorism near India
- The leaders reviewed the 2024–28 Action Plan and discussed regional issues like Ukraine
India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had an extensive dialogue with Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, which not only emphasized the necessity of a strict, no-tolerance stance to terrorism in India’s neighborhood but also reflected the ongoing global uncertainties.
The discussions were set against the background of changing geopolitical dynamics and brought out the need for more regular communication between the partners with the same mindset.
When he greeted Sikorski and his delegation in India, Jaishankar pointed out the importance of a closer relationship between India and Poland, and even though there is a large geographical separation, the two countries are indeed in the same boat in terms of the evolving strategic challenges and also the possible significant areas of cooperation.
He stressed that the traditionally warm and mutually respectful bilateral relations have received a boost since Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Poland in 2024, which moved ties to the level of a strategic partnership.

The discussion of both Indian and Polish leaders went hand in hand with the Indian–Polish Action Plan 2024–28, which is intended to bring the strategic partnership to its fullest potential.
The primary areas of cooperation were talked about and they included, among others, trade and investment, military and security, technology, innovation, and people-to-people exchanges. India, which is one of Poland's biggest trading partners in Central Europe, was presented as a developing market with vast potential for business in various sectors for the Polish companies.
Not only economic and strategic matters were on the agenda but also cultural and historical ties, global and regional developments (for instance the Ukraine conflict) were mentioned during the conversations.
The two partners assured that they would keep cooperating in a rapidly transforming international scene and support each other in the quest for regional stability and global peace.
