PM Modi, Netanyahu Discuss Strategic Ties, Regional Peace

Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had a phone call in which they talked about the bilateral strategic partnership between India and Israel and how to make it even stronger. Besides, they talked about the regional situation, and the two leaders again confirmed their determination to fight terrorism together.

PM Modi stated in a post on X, “Glad to speak with my friend, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and convey New Year greetings to him and the people of Israel. We discussed ways to further strengthen the India-Israel Strategic Partnership in the year ahead”.

He added, “We also exchanged views on the regional situation and reaffirmed our shared resolve to fight terrorism with greater determination”.

The phone call came after a visit by Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to Jerusalem on December 17, 2025, during which he met Prime Minister Netanyahu and delivered PM Modi’s warm regards.

Both sides during the discussions touched upon the subject of cooperation in various sectors, such as technology, economy, skills and talents development, connectivity, and security. PM Netanyahu, through an X post, gave updates about the meeting and mentioned his conversations with EAM Jaishankar.

In a post on X, EAM Jaishankar mentioned, “Deeply appreciate the call on Prime Minister Israel Benjamin Netanyahu in Jerusalem this evening. Extended warm wishes of PM Narendra Modi. Discussed deepening cooperation in technology, economy, skills and talent, connectivity and security. Valued his perspectives on regional and global developments. Confident that our Strategic Partnership will grow from strength to strength”.

EAM Jaishankar further had an appointment with the President of Israel, Isaac Herzog, to look for possible areas in which the India-Israel partnership could still grow. Earlier, on December 10, PM Modi and PM Netanyahu had a phone conversation, during which they exchanged their views on the West Asia situation.

He added, “Honoured to call on President Isaac Herzog of Israel today. Conveyed warm greetings of President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Discussed our Strategic Partnership and its continued deepening. Reaffirmed India’s steadfast support for enduring peace in the region”.

During their discussions, both leaders highlighted the significance of the India-Israel Strategic Partnership and the extinction of terrorism by a common action as their approach. The Prime Minister’s Office reported that PM Modi had indicated India’s support for the implementation of a just and long-lasting peace in the region.

The two leaders expressed their pleasure to have the bilateral relations dynamic still on and to their commitment to furthering ties for the mutual good, pointing out the overlapping strategic, economic, and security interests of the two nations.

The PMO stated, “The two leaders strongly condemned terrorism and reiterated their zero-tolerance approach towards terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. They also exchanged views on the situation in West Asia. PM Modi reaffirmed India’s support for efforts towards a just and durable peace in the region, including early implementation of the Gaza Peace Plan”.
