India and Greece has conducted security discussions which included defense-industrial cooperation matters as part of India's strategy to establish enduring international partnerships with strategic partners who share economic and defense interests.

India aims to strengthen ties with countries that share its values for two purposes which are to create stable relationships and to achieve both economic development and strategic objectives.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has highlighted India’s move toward “future-readytrade agreements, positioning the country as a reliable global ally. The External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar conducted a meeting with Greece Defense Minister Nikos Dendias in New Delhi after Defense Minister Rajnath Singh extended an invitation to him. The meeting examined three topics which included regional security matters, international security issues, and the defense partnership between both countries, that extended to their work together in the Indo-Pacific and Mediterranean areas.

Dendias articulated Greece's defense-industrial partnership interest with India, which included opportunities for technology sharing and joint projects and Greek-Indian manufacturing partnerships. Through his participation in the India-EU Forum activities, he showed Greece's intention to strengthen its partnership with India under the European framework.

The talks commence after India and the EU signed a Free Trade Agreement which Modi described as a measure for building strong trade connections. Experts note that the India-Greece engagement represents a strategic change which India has made to its foreign policy because the country now views security and defense-industrial ties and trade as three essential parts of its national security strategy.

The approach demonstrates India's dedication to creating global stability while it builds its strategic capabilities and develops its economy through international partnerships.
