  • Jindal Stainless commissions 315.6 MW hybrid project.
  • Solar-wind mix ensures round-the-clock green power.
  • Supports decarbonisation and clean energy goals.

Jindal Stainless has teamed up with Oyster Renewable Energy to implement a 315.6 MW hybrid renewable energy project that includes solar and wind power to facilitate sustainable industrial operations. The company has commissioned some part of the project and is therefore able to source green power for its manufacturing plants.

The hybrid system is designed to provide energy availability throughout the day, using solar power during the day and wind energy at the time when there is no solar generation. This project is in line with the companies larger commitment to decarburization and sustainability, as it supports the reduction of fossil fuel usage and the decrease in carbon emissions of its operations.

Through the large-scale use of renewable energy, the company will not only increase its energy efficiency but also continue to work towards its environmental targets. Oyster Renewable Energy, the other party involved in the project, is tasked with developing and operating the hybrid system by combining solar and wind energy to increase power generation and reliability.

Hybrid projects are becoming more popular in India, as they provide better utilization of transmission infrastructure and more stable power supply. The project aligns with India's broader renewable energy objectives, such as bolstering the portion of clean energy in the total power supply and accelerating the use of green energy technologies by the industry.

In a nutshell, the partnership is a sign of manufacturers' increasing move towards hybrid renewable energy systems which not only ensure efficient use of costs but also contribute to sustainability and provide energy security in the long run.
