Kineco, BEML collaborate to boost indigenous composite output

• Kineco & BEML sign MoU for advanced composites
• Focus sectors: defence, aerospace, mass transit
• Goal: reduce imports, build self-reliant ecosystem

Kineco Ltd has entered into a strategic partnership with the defence PSU BEML Ltd to upgrade the domestic advanced composite manufacturing capabilities for the sectors like defence, aerospace and mass transit. The partnership is intended to leverage Kineco’s strengths in high-performance composite technologies and BEML’s established engineering and manufacturing infrastructure.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed at the International Railway Equipment Exhibition (IREE 2025), New Delhi, in the presence of the top management of both the companies: Shantanu Roy (CMD, BEML) and Shekhar Sardessai (Founder & CMD, Kineco). The partnership allows both the organizations to create a robust, future-ready ecosystem in India, which will be capable of designing and manufacturing composites that conform to international standards.

With Kineco’s proficiency in composite materials and BEML’s large-scale production capabilities, the partnership is slated to pioneer the use of advanced materials that are lighter, stronger, and more energy-efficient. Such materials can be implemented in defence equipments, aircraft structures, and urban transit vehicles. The focus is primarily on import substitution and technological self-reliance in advanced materials.

Such a partnership is in sync with India's concerted effort to develop state-of-the-art capabilities in the crucial sectors of aerospace and defence where advanced composites are used extensively for weight reduction, durability, and performance. As competition becomes fiercer globally in these areas, such joint ventures can help India narrow the technological gaps and increase its competitiveness at the international level.
