  • L&T, BEL, & DTL team up for India’s Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) programme
  • DTL’s aerostructure manufacturing, L&T’s engineering, and BEL’s defence electronics will strengthen India’s aerospace capabilities
  • The collaboration supports the DRDO-led effort to enhance India’s self-reliance in defence manufacturing

Recently, the joint venture of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), part of India's Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) program, stated that it has signed Dynamatic Technologies Limited (DTL) as an exclusive partner.

Under this strategic alignment DTL brings expertise and experience in the manufacturing of complex aerostructures and sub-systems for global aerospace original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), while DTL and BEL leverage strengths in defence electronics, and L&T contributions in engineering et al.

The companies have joined forces on the AMCA fifth-generation fighter project, aiming to enhance defence manufacturing and develop an indigenous aircraft for the Indian Air Force, in collaboration with HAL. This cooperation will, in combination, make India’s domestic aerospace manufacturing even stronger.

“This partnership is as much about building a next-gen fighter jet as it is about redefining the Indian aerospace industrial ecosystem”, stated Arun Ramchandani, Senior Vice President and Head of L&T Precision Engineering & Systems.

Udayant Malhoutra, CEO and Managing Director, Dynamatic Technologies added, “Our pioneering legacy, combined with the engineering expertise of Larsen & Toubro, brings together a partnership with the capabilities required to deliver India’s fifth-generation fighter aircraft”.

The project of the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), directed by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), has the objective to make India completely self-reliant in defence technology.

The L&T-BEL-DTL consortium will be the main actor in the design, development, and production of essential systems and structures for the AMCA, engineers India’s indigenous defence capabilities significantly, which is a whole new level.
