
Piyush Goyal Urges Swedish Investment in India's Infra, Manufacturing
- Piyush Goyal highlighted stronger business engagement as key to deepening India-Sweden bilateral relations.

- The visit aimed to unlock new economic opportunities and strengthen ties with over 280 Swedish and 80+ Indian companies active in each other’s markets.
Speaking at the India-Sweden Business Leaders' Roundtable (ISBLRT) at Stockholm, hosted by Marcus Wallenberg of Wallenberg Investments AB, Piyush Goyal indicated that the ongoing cooperation in innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development is of utmost importance.
The Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said during his address that further business-to-business engagement would work as a backdrop to fostering closer India-Sweden bilateral ties.
On his X platform, Piyush Goyal mentioned, "Envisioned by the leadership of India and Sweden in 2016, ISBLRT has since emerged as a cornerstone platform for bringing together business leaders from both nations to foster collaboration in trade, innovation, and investment".
He added, " Today’s discussions were constructive and forward-looking. Emphasised the need to build partnerships grounded in shared innovation, technological progress, and mutual prosperity".
Also, there was a fruitful meeting with Benjamin Dousa, Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade of Sweden, and Hakan Jevrell, State Secretary for Foreign Trade, to invite Swedish companies into a bigger role in infrastructure and manufacturing in India.

The minister further stated, " We discussed strengthening collaboration across sectors like clean energy, digital technology, climate, healthcare and life sciences, and skill development, among others..... Looking forward to unlocking new chapters of cooperation".
The three-day visit to Sweden comes after a fairly successful two-day visit to Switzerland.
"Eager to engage with Sweden’s leadership, business community, and key stakeholders to explore new opportunities and strengthen our longstanding ties", he noted on his X account.
Also added, "With over 280 Swedish companies in India and more than 80 Indian companies in Sweden, “the potential for collaboration is immense".
The visit is to revamp their already strong economic partnership, and find forays for cooperation that would fit into India's long-term growth objective and partnerships on the global arena.
