Synopsis: President Droupadi Murmu holds historic talks with Moldova’s President Maia Sandu during the first-ever visit by an Indian President, strengthening cooperation in trade, investment, technology, innovation, and sustainable development.

The President of India Droupadi Murmu had extensive bilateral discussions with President of Moldova Maia Sandu on the occasion of her landmark State Visit to Moldova, being the very first time that an Indian President visited the Eastern European country. This is a milestone for the relationship between India and Moldova and highlights how both nations are committed to enhancing cooperation in various fields like politics, economics, technology, and culture.

President Murmu received a ceremonial reception and guard of honor at the Presidential Palace in Chisinau before having individual meetings as well as delegation-level meetings with President Sandu. Both the leaders went through an assessment of the entire gamut of bilateral ties and discussed potential areas of cooperation in trade, investment, agriculture, health care, medicines, IT, digital transformation, and education among others.

Issues related to economic cooperation were at the forefront of the talks. Areas like artificial intelligence, renewable energy, digital technology, and sustainable development were also discussed during the conversation. The leaders of both countries recognized the possibility of working together in innovative fields and decided to collaborate in the field of technological cooperation. Both parties highlighted the necessity of utilizing their strengths in order to solve common problems in the area of development.

According to President Murmu, the visit has been a milestone in history, as it is a testimony to the evolving relationship of goodwill and trust between the two countries. For his part, President Sandu was happy about the growing bilateral relationship and looked forward to future cooperation in fields of common interest.
