Samsung Begins Laptop Manufacturing at Noida Factory in India

Samsung, a leading Korean electronics company, has expanded its manufacturing operations in India by starting laptop production at its Greater Noida factory. The facility, established in 1996 as one of the first global electronics manufacturing plants in India, already produces feature phones, smartphones, wearables, and tablets.

Samsung has expanded its manufacturing portfolio. It has started manufacturing laptops in India at its Greater Noida factory. It has plans to start manufacturing more devices in the country. This development aligns with Samsung’s strategy to strengthen its manufacturing base in India, leveraging the country’s growing market and skilled workforce.

Union Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently met with Samsung Southwest Asia President and CEO JB Park and Corporate Vice President SP Chun. Following the meeting, Vaishnaw stated, "Samsung continues to expand manufacturing of its advanced technology devices in Bharat, driven by talent and innovation." The minister highlighted Samsung’s commitment to advancing India’s role in global technology production.

Earlier this year, Samsung Electronics President and the Head of Mobile eXperience (MX) Business TM Roh said that it is getting ready to produce laptops in India. In India, Samsung has the second-largest phone manufacturing unit in the country thus ranking second in the amount of cell phone exports in the country after Apple.

 Samsung holds the position of the second-largest smartphone brand in India by both value and volume share. However, the company has yet to establish a significant presence in the Indian laptop market.
