Tamil Nadu Signs Rs 5,980 Cr MoUs in Chips, Aerospace

The Tamil Nadu Government signed two separate agreements with Japanese MinebeaMitsumi and Bengaluru-based Aequs Group, which will bring a total investment of ₹5,980 crore to Tamil Nadu and create approximately 8,400 employment opportunities in the semiconductor and aerospace industries.

The agreements were formalised in the presence of Chief Minister M. K. Stalin at the Secretariat in Chennai. Tamil Nadu MoUs are set to accelerate semiconductor investment India, strengthen the aerospace industry and electronics manufacturing ecosystem, advance Make in India in high-tech manufacturing, boost industrial investment, and drive growth in the Tamil Nadu economy.

NMB Minebea India Private Limited, a subsidiary of MinebeaMitsumi, will invest ₹1,980 crore to establish a manufacturing, research and development facility in Tiruvallur district.

The facility, which operates at Mahindra Origins Industrial Park, will develop a complete system to produce high-value semiconductor products that include Insulated-Gate Bipolar Transistors, Integrated Circuits, motors and sensors. The project will create approximately 1,400 jobs, of which more than 40 percent will require advanced technical expertise.

The Aequs Group plans to invest ₹4,000 crore in developing Tamil Nadu aerospace facilities at SIPCOT-Shoolagiri Industrial Park, which is located in Krishnagiri district.

The dedicated aerospace and defence manufacturing cluster, which the company plans to create, will focus on aircraft engines, gearbox components and precision engineering parts and thus will create about 7000 jobs.

The two investments, which support Tamil Nadu's industrial development strategy, will create high-quality job opportunities for young people and female workers, according to an official announcement.
