Tata Motors confirmed that it had formed a tactical partnership with THINK Gas, a city gas distribution company, to increase the LNG refueling infrastructure in India for long-haul and heavy-duty trucks.

The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) symbolizes the joint effort to mitigate the country’s renewable energy transition in the commercial vehicle arena.

The Tata Motors LNG and THINK Gas partnership aims to boost LNG refuelling India initiatives, promoting clean mobility for long-haul trucks through green transport and strengthened alternative fuel infrastructure

Tata Motors has revealed the partnership's intentions which are to prep the infrastructure, educate the market about the advantages and reliability of LNG as a fuel, and win over the freight sector with LNG trucks to cut down the carbon emissions caused by truck movements.

Rajesh Kaul, Vice President and Business Head - Trucks at Tata Motors, spoke about the potential of LNG being a very effective and environmentally conscious approach for the logistics sector's growth in India.

He stated, "Through this partnership with THINK Gas, our goal is to strengthen ecosystem readiness, ensuring reliable access to refuelling infrastructure and enabling fleet operators to adopt LNG with confidence".

"Partnering with Tata Motors, a leader in advancing alternate-fuel mobility, will help us strategically scale our expansion", added Somil Garg, Senior Vice President and Business Head (LNG Fuel) at THINK Gas.

The two companies, will cooperate in selecting the major freight corridors and logistics hubs that would be appropriate for LNG infrastructure development, which is in line with the MoU.

THINK Gas is going to take care of the fuel quality and supply reliability so that the vehicles perform at an optimum. Moreover, the customers of Tata Motors will have access to special services like discounted fuel rates.

The collaboration is a major move in the direction of creating a healthy LNG ecosystem and more environmentally friendly, low-emission freight transport through Indian logistics.
