Tata Projects Partners MDS Aero to Boost Aero Engine Testing

Tata Projects partners with Canada’s MDS Aero Support to develop advanced aero-engine testing infrastructure in India, combining local engineering capabilities with global gas turbine testing expertise.

Tata Projects has entered into a strategic partnership with Canada-based MDS Aero Support Corporation to develop advanced aero-engine testing infrastructure in India. The collaboration brings together Tata Projects’ infrastructure and engineering capabilities with MDS Aero’s expertise in gas turbine engine testing.

The partnership aims to support the development of testing facilities for India’s expanding aerospace and propulsion ecosystem. The companies said the collaboration will combine local project execution capabilities with specialised international expertise in the design, engineering, integration and commissioning of advanced engine test facilities.

Under the partnership, Tata Projects will be responsible for several critical infrastructure components required for aero-engine testing. These include civil and structural works, mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, high air pressure systems, heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC), high-temperature exhaust systems, cooling water systems and related site infrastructure.

MDS Aero Support will contribute its specialised capabilities in the design, engineering, supply, integration, commissioning and lifecycle support of gas turbine engine test facilities and systems. The Canadian company has delivered gas turbine engine testing projects in more than 27 countries and has developed turnkey testing capabilities for engine components used across aviation, defence and industrial applications.

Rajiv Menon, President and Chief Growth and Strategy Officer at Tata Projects, said India’s aerospace ecosystem is entering a new phase, with increasing activity across aircraft manufacturing, propulsion, testing and advanced technologies. He highlighted the importance of developing supporting infrastructure alongside these capabilities.

Joe Hajjar, Chief Revenue Officer at MDS Aero Support Corporation, said the partnership combines local execution capabilities with global engine-testing expertise. According to the company, the collaboration is also expected to strengthen aerospace and technology ties between India and Canada.

The partnership comes as India’s aerospace sector expands its focus on domestic capabilities across aircraft manufacturing, propulsion systems and advanced engineering. Testing infrastructure forms an important part of this ecosystem, enabling engine components and systems to undergo controlled evaluation and validation.

Neither company disclosed a specific project location, investment value or commissioning timeline for the proposed testing infrastructure in the announcement. The partnership establishes a framework for Tata Projects and MDS Aero Support to work together on future aero-engine testing infrastructure requirements in India.
