  • UPPCL signed a 25-year PPA with Hindustan Power for a 435 MW solar project in UP
  • Project execution has begun, including site development and workforce mobilisation
  • It supports UP’s 2026–27 renewable target and Hindustan Power’s 5 GW clean energy goal

Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has signed a 25-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Hindustan Power to buy power from a 435 MW DC solar PV project built in that state.

This is an enormous step towards Uttar Pradesh reaching its target of 22,000 MW of renewables by 2026–27. The project was awarded after a competitive bidding process in April 2025 and will supply clean energy to Uttar Pradesh for 25 years.

Hindustan Power has already initiated site activities at the location, including the opening of its site office, stakeholder engagement, workforce deployment, and early works on site. The initiative is predicted to provide local employment and add to local development.

Ratul Puri, Chairman, Hindustan Power said, "The signing of the power purchase agreement sets the wheels in motion for rapid on-ground implementation. We are moving ahead at full pace to ensure that every aspect, from site development to stakeholder coordination, is executed seamlessly and on schedule. This project reflects our strong focus on delivering clean and reliable energy while supporting Uttar Pradesh’s vision of becoming a trillion-dollar economy".

The company has stated that the project is part of its overarching strategy to expand its renewable energy footprint across the country and support its goal of 5 GW of clean energy capacity across India in the near future.
