In addition to universal connectivity, cybersecurity, digital public infrastructure, emerging technologies, capacity building and best practices sharing, the partnership extends to the development of the infrastructure. It is likely to also enable more knowledge sharing and expertise transfer between Indian and Brazilian institutions and foster collaboration in research, innovation and development of future-generation communication technologies.
The deal is a significant development in the efforts of India and Brazil to enhance partnership and create a safe and welcoming digital future, Scindia said. The partnership is designed to help both nations build resilient digital ecosystems and to foster more collaboration around technologies driving the next-generation digital transformation.
The MoU also creates a platform for India and Brazil to further enhance their cooperation in international fora dealing with telecommunications and technology. The two countries could share views on digital governance and technology standards and emerging issues in the global ICT sector through greater coordination in these platforms.
India is hosting the BRICS ICT Track from 17-21 August as BRICS Chair for 2026. The programme aims to connect, convene and support discussions and cooperation between communications ministers, government officials and ICT experts in member countries on connectivity, cybersecurity, digital skills, artificial intelligence, next-generation communications, digital public infrastructure and innovation.
In this broader discussion of BRICS ICT, emphasis is placed on creating trusted and human-centric digital environments and the creation of sustainable and resilient ICT ecosystems. Child online protection and inclusive connectivity continue to be high priority in the forum, as does cybersecurity.
