Maharashtra Secures Rs 4.15 Lakh Crore in Tech Investments
Maharashtra secures ₹4.15 lakh crore in technology commitments out of ₹8.57 lakh crore across 67 MoUs signed under the Invest Maharashtra initiative, driving massive expansions in data centers, semiconductors, and digital infrastructure.
In a major boost to its digital economy ambitions, Maharashtra has secured proposed technology investments totaling ₹4,15,490 crore. The landmark agreements represent the anchor share of 67 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) valued at an aggregate ₹8.57 lakh crore, unveiled during the formal launch of the state’s unified "Invest Maharashtra" platform.
While the broader investment push encompasses diverse industrial domains—including aerospace, defense, renewable energy, and metallurgy—the technology sector emerged as the primary beneficiary. Capital allocations are concentrated heavily in hyperscale data centers, semiconductor manufacturing, and IT/IT-enabled services (ITeS). According to state officials, the signed pacts are projected to generate approximately 2.91 lakh direct and indirect employment opportunities across Maharashtra, significantly bolstering its regional labor market and tech talent ecosystem.

Hyperscale data infrastructure and compute facilities captured the largest share of individual commitments. Cortex Data Centres leads the pack with a massive ₹60,990 crore proposal to develop next-generation computing infrastructure in Navi Mumbai. Expanding footprint across the state’s key industrial belts, Trentar Data Centres and WorldOne Enterprises (via Astra Cybercity) have each pledged ₹30,000 crore to construct extensive data parks in Navi Mumbai and the coastal district of Ratnagiri, respectively.
Beyond compute capacity, the investment drive places strong emphasis on domestic semiconductor and specialized electronics manufacturing. Prominent industry players including Pi-Semicon and the Sterlite Group are committing substantial resources to establish fabrication and hardware supply chain facilities. Specifically, Sterlite Technologies outlined a ₹2,790 crore investment focused on precision electronics components and advanced hardware manufacturing. At the same time, companies like Atri Energy Transition, ReNew, and Akshat Greentech have pledged major capital commitments toward tech-adjacent green energy and transition projects.
The newly inaugurated Invest Maharashtra initiative is designed to act as an end-to-end facilitation ecosystem. Operating as a centralized single-window mechanism, it aims to eliminate administrative bottlenecks, expedite land and utility allocations, and streamline statutory clearances to fast-track project execution.

Industry leaders and government stakeholders note that establishing reliable compute capacity, localized chip manufacturing, and resilient power infrastructure is indispensable as India navigates soaring demand for artificial intelligence, enterprise cloud migrations, and high-speed data connectivity. Through these capital inflows, Maharashtra aims to solidify its position as the premier gateway for advanced technology investments in South Asia.
