Mozambique Minister Visits Delhi Metro to Explore Training Facilities
Mozambique’s Transport and Logistics Minister João Jorge Matlombe visits Delhi Metro’s training academy to explore advanced simulators, signalling systems and capacity-building programmes for metro rail operations.
Mozambique’s Minister for Transport and Logistics, Joao Jorge Matlombe, visited the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) to explore its training infrastructure and capacity-building initiatives in urban rail transportation.
Managing Director Vikas Kumar and Delhi Metro International Limited (DMIL) Chief Executive Officer Sanjay Jamuar welcomed Matlombe and his delegation at the DMRC Academy. The officials briefed the visiting delegation on the corporation’s training programmes and initiatives to develop technical expertise for metro rail operations and maintenance.
During the visit, the delegation watched documentaries on DMRC and DMIL, a wholly owned subsidiary of the corporation, and toured several advanced facilities at the academy. These included the Extended Reality (XR) Lab, Metro Signalling Model Room, Bogie Brakes Pneumatic Simulator and RS-2 Driving Simulator. The facilities demonstrate the use of specialised training systems to familiarise personnel with metro operations, signalling, driving and maintenance procedures.

The delegation also visited the Delhi Metro Museum at Supreme Court Metro Station to learn about the development and achievements of the metro network. The museum showcases the evolution of the system and its role in urban public transportation.
DMRC Academy serves as a training centre for employees and personnel from metro rail organisations in India and abroad. Established to build competencies in rail-based urban transportation, the academy offers programmes covering operations, maintenance, management development and specialised technical training. Its infrastructure includes driving simulators, computer-based training laboratories, signalling and operations demonstration facilities, and maintenance simulators.
Matlombe’s visit also comes amid wider engagement between India and Mozambique in transport and other infrastructure sectors. On October 7, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu met the Mozambican minister in New Delhi to discuss strengthening aviation links, particularly in the context of growing Indian business activity and investment in Mozambique. Naidu expressed interest in continuing dialogue on cooperation in aviation.
