
BMW, Force Motors Cross 1 Lakh Engine Milestone at Chennai Plant
- Force Motors and BMW hit 1,00,000 engine milestone in Chennai.
- Plant uses advanced, globally compliant production systems.
- Partnership supports BMW’s localization in India.
Under a joint venture with BMW Group India, Force Motors has reached an enviable milestone of producing 1,00,000 engines at its Chennai-based engine assembly plant. The 1,00,000th engine will be installed in a BMW X5 to mark the decade-long association between these two companies.
Attending such an event were dignitaries like Marcus Wollens, Vice President of BMW Production Network 2; Thomas Dose, Managing Director of BMW Group Plant Chennai; and Prasan Firodia, Managing Director of Force Motors Ltd.
The plant was set up in 2015 and manufactures engines for the entire gamut of BMW vehicles assembled in India. It is installed with higher levels of automation and digital integration, conforming to the worldwide manufacturing standards of the BMW Group.
This plant is important to BMW operations in India and supports the company's localization strategy, which is to marry international quality standards with domestic production skills.
