- Over 750 products available; new bank partnership expands access for MSMEs across India.
An MoU was signed between Vedanta Aluminium, a unit of Vedanta Limited, and the Central Bank of India in order to provide collateral-free loans to downstream customers, mainly MSMEs, through the subsidiary Bharat Aluminium Company (BALCO).
This initiative intends to provide loans for working capital ranging primarily from ₹10 lakh to ₹10 crore, with minimal documentation and attractive interest rates.
This financing will be funneled through Vedanta Metal Bazaar, an online platform for aluminium products. Through the online platform, customers avail digital loan services, keep track of invoices in real time, and enjoy a 90-day payback period with an additional 15 days of grace. This ensures that disbursals are timely and highly transparent through API-based integration.
There are currently over 100 customers whose financing is facilitated by the Platform and partner with four banks in this regard. The National presence of the Central Bank of India would greatly propel the outreach of this programme.

"Our partnership with Central Bank of India marks a pivotal step in strengthening the aluminium value chain by making working capital more accessible and affordable for MSMEs who form the backbone of India’s manufacturing and industrial ecosystem. By enabling greater financial liquidity, we are not only empowering our customers to scale efficiently but also accelerating the development of a robust downstream sector", said Rajiv Kumar, CEO at Vedanta Aluminium.
"With more than 60% of our downstream clientele comprising MSMEs, this initiative will unlock new avenues for business expansion and competitiveness. It aligns with our vision of building a self-reliant, competitive, and future-ready aluminium industry that contributes meaningfully to India’s economic growth, employment generation, and global manufacturing leadership", he added.
The Vedanta Metal Bazaar offers more than 750 variants of aluminium products ranging from ingots, billets, wire rods, rolled products, and Restora, which is low-carbon aluminium. The platform features AI-based price discovery and is available via web and mobile apps.
Vedanta Aluminium produced 2.42 million tonnes of aluminium in FY25, contributing over 50% of India’s total aluminium output.
