Ceigall India Gets 5,300 Crore Transmission Project in Gujarat

Ceigall India has secured a ₹5,300 crore LoI from RECPDCL for a Gujarat transmission project featuring a 765/400 kV substation and 300 km of lines. The project will evacuate renewable power and provide 35 years of transmission revenue.

Ceigall India has received a Letter of Intent (LoI) from REC Power Development and Consultancy (RECPDCL) for a ₹5,300 crore power transmission project in Gujarat. The project is aimed at strengthening transmission infrastructure and facilitating the evacuation of electricity generated from major renewable energy zones in the state.

The project, titled “Common Transmission System for evacuation of power from Lakadia (Phase-II: 7.5 GW), Jam Khambhaliya (Phase-II: 5.5 GW) and Jamnagar (Phase-I: 1 GW) - Part-B,” will involve the development of a 765/400 kV Air Insulated Substation (AIS) and approximately 300 km of transmission lines.

The total project value is estimated at ₹5,300 crore, inclusive of GST. Ceigall India is expected to complete the construction and commissioning phase within 36 months. Following completion, the project will enter a 35-year operational period during which the company will receive annual transmission charges of ₹608.67 crore.

The transmission system will play a key role in evacuating power from renewable energy generation hubs at Lakadia, Jam Khambhaliya and Jamnagar. Gujarat has been expanding its renewable energy capacity, increasing the need for high-capacity transmission networks capable of moving electricity from generation-rich regions to demand centres.

Ramneek Sehgal, Managing Director of Ceigall India, said the project would contribute to the development of critical power transmission infrastructure in Gujarat and support the efficient evacuation of power from major generation regions.

The order expands Ceigall India’s presence beyond its established infrastructure businesses, which include highways, expressways, bridges, flyovers, railway overbridges, tunnels and runways. The company has also been increasing its focus on the renewable energy segment through utility-scale solar and battery energy storage system projects.

The latest project comes as India accelerates investment in transmission infrastructure to support the integration of increasing renewable generation capacity. Large-scale solar and wind projects require dedicated evacuation systems and inter-state and intra-state transmission networks to ensure reliable grid integration.

For Ceigall India, the Gujarat project provides a long-term infrastructure asset with a 35-year operational revenue stream after construction. It also strengthens the company’s order portfolio in the power transmission segment while aligning its infrastructure capabilities with India’s broader renewable energy and grid-modernisation requirements.

The project is therefore significant not only for Ceigall India’s diversification but also for Gujarat’s renewable energy ecosystem, where improved transmission capacity will be essential to efficiently utilise electricity generated from emerging renewable power hubs.
