In terms of strategy, the submarine programme constitutes a vital element of India's overall missile-capable naval force rejuvenation and maritime security enhancement, especially in the Indo-Pacific region.
The new underwater platforms will considerably upgrade the submarine warfare capabilities, a necessity, given the shifting patterns of geopolitical and security challenges. This pact also signals an overall pattern of increased defence cooperation between India and the European countries.
The two sides' recent cooperation activities have been concentrated on furthering the scope of their role in military technology, joint manufacturing, and capability development, which are all aspects of their strategic partnership.
Should the deal be signed as planned, it would not merely strengthen India's naval capabilities but also foster an exchange of technologies, create industrial synergies, and enhance defence relations in a lasting manner between India and Germany.
