India Confident of 50,000 Crore Defence Exports by 2030
India is well positioned to achieve its ₹50,000 crore defence exports target by 2030, driven by rising global demand for indigenous defence systems, expanding manufacturing capabilities, and stronger participation from private industry, according to Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh.
India is on track to comfortably achieve its target of ₹50,000 crore in defence exports by 2030, Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh said, citing strong growth in overseas demand for indigenous defence equipment and the country's expanding manufacturing capabilities. He noted that the rapid rise in exports and increasing global acceptance of Indian defence products have significantly strengthened confidence in meeting the government's export objective.
Speaking on India's defence manufacturing outlook, Singh highlighted that defence exports recorded a sharp increase in the previous financial year, reflecting the growing competitiveness of domestically developed military platforms and systems. He said Indian defence equipment is gaining recognition across Asia, Africa, and other international markets, supported by improvements in quality, reliability, and cost competitiveness.

The Defence Secretary attributed the sector's growth to sustained policy reforms aimed at promoting self-reliance under the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. Measures such as simplified export procedures, higher private sector participation, increased foreign investment, and stronger collaboration between public and private defence manufacturers have expanded India's production capacity and export potential.
He also pointed to rising international interest in Indian-made defence platforms, including missiles, artillery systems, naval equipment, electronic warfare systems, radars, and aerospace technologies. Operational performance and continuous investment in research, development, and advanced manufacturing have further enhanced the credibility of Indian defence products in global markets.
According to the government, Indian defence products are now exported to more than 80 countries, while the exporter base has expanded significantly with increased participation from domestic companies. This broader industrial ecosystem is expected to support sustained export growth and strengthen India's position as a reliable supplier of defence equipment.
