India Has Crude Supplies For Two Months: Govt
- India has fuel stocks sufficient for around two months
- Govt dismisses shortage claims as misinformation
- Diversified imports ensure stable energy supply
The Indian government has dispelled rumours about the scarcity of oil and fuel in the country, after the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas revealed that the country had enough stock to meet the demand for almost two months in spite of the ongoing geopolitical tensions in the West Asia region.
The Ministry also stated that India's procurement for the next two months had already been secured which would means that they would have supplies even if there were disruptions in the external environment. This clarifies a concern that was raised when there were disruptions of global energy supply routes which also resulted in panic buying in some areas. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has inform that the country's current crude oil and fuel reserves can meet the demand for 60 days while the total storage capacity stands at around 74 days.
The Government has assured that supply chain's remain stable and all retail fuel outlets are operating normally, also there are no restrictions in fuel sales. Besides, authorities confirmed that the company had procurement secured for two months and that would still be available for supply regardless of environmental disruptions.

The reassurance is given against the backdrop of escalating tensions in West Asia that have affected global energy markets and caused a worry about supply chains being interrupted, especially through the most important sea routes like the Strait of Hormuz. On top of that, India has broadened its supply strategy, buying oil from over 40 countries, including stepping up shipments from Russia and other suppliers outside West Asia.
This spread of sources helped cancel out possible disruptions and keep the supply steady. Government spokespersons also responded to the narrative about fuel crisis and long lines at petrol pumps, explaining the situation as rumors rather than reality. They underlined that local refineries are working at very high capacities to produce enough, while oil marketing companies are making every effort to provide uninterrupted supply to the entire nation.
In addition to crude oil, the government highlighted that supplies of petrol, diesel, and LPG remain adequate, with measures in place to boost domestic production and secure additional imports where necessary. These efforts form part of a broader strategy to enhance energy resilience and mitigate the impact of global volatility on domestic markets.
