Odisha signs five MoUs and secures eight investment proposals worth ₹8,417 crore during its UAE outreach, with the projects expected to generate around 14,310 jobs across technology, energy, metals and infrastructure.

In order to boost investment attraction, the state of Odisha has been very active in the UAE by signing five MoUs and obtaining eight investment proposals amounting to ₹8,417 crore. These proposals are estimated to create around 14,310 job openings in various fields.

The agreement was signed on the second day of Odisha’s UAE investor outreach program, which showcases the industrial potential of Odisha along with other business aspects that it offers to its investors. This is done in order to create Odisha as an attractive place for foreign investments.

These MoUs represent investments worth around ₹5,600 crore and have the capacity to provide about 11,500 job opportunities. Moreover, eight projects for investment amounting to ₹2,817 crore have been made. Overall, all these commitments signify increasing investment in different economic sectors in Odisha.

The proposed investments cover industries such as information technology, mining, energy, logistics, infrastructure and tourism. These diverse investments coincide with the larger plans of Odisha to go beyond its conventional industrialisation based on resources and move towards a technology-based economy with exports as a priority.

The pitch for the state focuses on its abundant natural resources, its industrial base, its qualified labour force, and its improved business environment. The state of Odisha is actively pursuing investments in industries such as renewable energy, electronics, manufacturing, textiles, food processing, and information technology.

The UAE outreach is also useful in creating economic engagement between Odisha and Gulf-based investors. Odisha wants to take advantage of the UAE’s global reputation as an international business centre to attract investments from firms and other investment organisations.

The latest rounds of investments will fit into the larger strategy of Odisha’s interactions with firms from the UAE. This is part of the larger strategy being pursued by Odisha as it reaches out to the firms through which it can establish long-term international ties.

However, what is noteworthy about the potential for employment arising from these proposals is the fact that over 14,000 new jobs will be created, and this will aid industrial growth and provide openings in various fields.

Investment outreach thus becomes an essential part of Odisha’s plan to lure foreign investment and to create economic diversity as well as to bolster its presence within the Indian industry map. With a combination of sectoral investment prospects and global investor outreach, the state is able to lay a solid foundation for economic growth.
