India’s Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held wide-ranging talks with his Italian counterpart Guido Crosetto in New Delhi, focusing on strengthening bilateral defence cooperation and addressing evolving global security challenges.
The meeting established an important milestone for India-Italy strategic relations because it demonstrated the two countries' growing similarity in their defence and geopolitical objectives.
The two leaders assessed current defence agreements between their countries and they searched for new ways to develop joint defence industrial partnerships. They emphasized the importance of building mutually beneficial partnerships under initiatives such as India’s “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” programme and Italy’s defence cooperation frameworks.
The meeting resulted in both sides establishing a Bilateral Military Cooperation Plan (MCP) 2026-27 which will boost military engagement through joint activities and training and strategic coordination between their armed forces.

The ministers held discussions about various regional and global matters while they also examined the current situation in West Asia. The dialogue focused on two main elements, which included ongoing security worries and the region's various unstable conditions.
The two parties exchanged their views about solving these problems, which they believed required international collaboration and diplomatic methods to achieve stability.
Guido Crosetto's first official visit to India demonstrates his country and India want to find new ways to work together especially in defense production and technology development. The defense and strategic partnership which both nations signed earlier in 2026 has resulted in India and European Union ties becoming stronger.
The two parties discussed military cooperation while they established their intent to create permanent strategic ties which would maintain global security during times of rising complexity. India and Italy plan to establish a stronger partnership through defence collaboration and industrial partnerships and their combined efforts to address regional challenges which will enhance both national security and worldwide security goals.
