  • Strategic Scale-Up: ₹1,800 crore BRAHMA hub to produce 1,100 coaches/year within five years.
  • Employment Boost: Over 5,000 jobs created; supports localization and skill development.
  • Sustainable Growth: Facility built with green standards, supports Swadeshi auto supply chains.

In a groundbreaking development to enhance rail manufacturing capability in India, Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) has announced the opening of the ₹1,800 crores BRAHMA (BEML Rail Hub for Manufacturing) facility located in Umaria village in Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh. The site was formally launched by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh in a ceremony on August 10 and supports India’s Make in India and Atmanirbhar Bharat efforts.

The facility is located on approximately 60 hectares of land; it will initially be capable of producing 125–200 Vande Bharat, Amrit Bharat and metro train coaches a year with the ability to reach a capacity of up to 1,100 flies/year in five years. I have evidence that this is true.

The project is anticipated to create better than 5,000 direct and indirect jobs, serving the districts of Raisen, Bhopal, Sehore, and Vidisha and offering job opportunities for engineering graduates in the locality.

The facility will be built to green factory standards, featuring renewable energy, rainwater harvesting, operational zero-liquid waste systems and sustainable building materials. Officials underscore how the hub's strategic role is to reduce reliance on imported rail components, strengthen India's coach-manufacturing independence, and stimulate economic growth in central India's industrial ecosystem.
