  • Agreements strengthen airport infrastructure and technology collaboration initiatives
  • Partnerships enhance India-Vietnam connectivity, tourism, and aviation growth

Vietnamese airline VietJet Air has signed strategic cooperation agreements with India-based GMR Airports and Bird Group to strengthen aviation infrastructure, technology collaboration, and connectivity between India and Vietnam. The agreements were formalised during the India-Vietnam Business Forum held in Mumbai in the presence of Vietnamese President To Lam.

Under the partnership framework with GMR Airports, Vietjet will explore opportunities in airport infrastructure development, aviation logistics, smart airport systems, air connectivity, and long-term investment initiatives. The collaboration is expected to support the expansion of aviation networks and improve operational efficiency across airport ecosystems in both countries.

Separately, Vietjet’s agreement with Bird Group focuses on ground handling services, aviation training, travel technology, hospitality services, and digital transformation initiatives aimed at improving passenger experience. The partnership is also expected to strengthen tourism and commercial exchanges between India and Vietnam.

The agreements come amid growing economic and strategic cooperation between India and Vietnam, with both countries seeking deeper engagement across trade, technology, infrastructure, and tourism sectors. Industry experts view aviation connectivity as a key driver for strengthening bilateral business and people-to-people ties in the Asia-Pacific region.

Vietjet stated that the partnerships would help open new connectivity corridors across aviation, trade, technology, and investment while supporting the long-term development of regional transport infrastructure. The airline has significantly expanded its India operations in recent years and currently operates around 80 weekly flights connecting major Indian cities such as New Delhi, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru with destinations in Vietnam. To date, the carrier has transported more than 2.5 million passengers between the two countries.

The collaboration also reflects increasing interest among Asian aviation companies in developing integrated infrastructure and digital aviation ecosystems. As demand for international travel and regional connectivity continues to rise, partnerships involving airports, airlines, logistics operators, and technology providers are becoming increasingly important for sustainable aviation growth.

Industry observers believe the agreements could pave the way for broader investment opportunities in airport development, smart mobility solutions, and tourism infrastructure across South and Southeast Asia. The partnerships are also expected to support stronger economic integration between India and Vietnam as both countries continue expanding trade and regional cooperation initiatives.
