India Expands e-Visa Entry Points With 9 Land Ports

India has expanded the entry points available to e-visa holders by adding 11 international ports, including nine land ports such as Attari and two airports. The move takes the total number of designated e-visa entry points to 88.

The Centre has expanded the network of designated entry points for international travellers holding Indian e-visas by notifying 11 additional ports, including nine land ports and two airports. The move is aimed at providing greater flexibility to foreign visitors entering India and widening access to the country’s electronic visa facility.

With the latest additions, the total number of international entry points available to e-visa holders has increased to 88. These include 37 airports, 38 seaports and 13 land ports across the country. The expanded network gives eligible travellers more options when planning their journeys to India.

India’s e-visa facility allows eligible foreign nationals to complete the visa application process online before travelling. The system has become an important part of the country’s efforts to simplify visa procedures and make international travel more convenient.

The addition of more land ports is particularly relevant for travellers who enter India through neighbouring countries or use overland routes instead of major international airports. The expanded network could make travel more accessible for visitors whose destinations are located closer to land-based entry points.

The newly designated locations are expected to support travellers visiting India for tourism, business, education and other permitted purposes under the applicable e-visa categories. Foreign nationals using the newly designated entry points will continue to be required to meet applicable immigration, security and documentation requirements. Possession of an e-visa does not remove the need to comply with entry procedures at the designated port.
