China to Attend India AI Summit, Signalling Warming Tech Ties

Chinese representatives will attend the upcoming AI Impact Summit, which India will host in New Delhi, because this event represents a major development in regional technology diplomacy while it establishes India as a global artificial intelligence governance center.
The summit will take place from February 16 to 20, when policymakers, researchers and industry leaders will gather to discuss artificial intelligence amid rising geopolitical tensions.
The India AI Impact Summit is set to strengthen China India tech relations and advance AI diplomacy, fostering AI collaboration Asia at the Global AI Summit 2026 through enhanced Tech cooperation India China, promoting an AI innovation partnership, discussions at the Artificial Intelligence Summit Asia on Emerging AI technologies, and encouraging Cross-border tech collaboration.
India’s Consul General in Shanghai, Pratik Mathur, stated that China improved its bilateral relations with India after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited China for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, which took place in August last year.
According to Mathur, Beijing's decision to participate in the event demonstrates that India-China relations have developed positive momentum, which enables both countries to work together on emerging technologies despite their strategic differences.

The senior Chinese delegation, which has Chen Jiachange as its leader, includes Liu Yuechen, the Shanghai AI Research Institute president, Xu Yuan, the Beijing Institute of Technology president, Shanghai AI Laboratory Chair Xu Jia, Vice Chair Cong Yiwen and China Center for Information Industry Development scholars.
China supports India’s proposal for multilateral framework reforms, according to officials who say those upcoming sessions will focus on Global South initiatives through inclusive AI development, capacity building and equitable access programs.
The US confirmed the high-level delegation that Director Michael Kratsios of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy leads to China, which has confirmed the US announcement. The US team brings together its economic and trade officials as a demonstration of Washington's plan to develop worldwide artificial intelligence standards.
The summit between China and the US demonstrates its diplomatic importance to India as a site for responsible artificial intelligence development, standard creation and shared solution development during increasing international competition.
