NSEIX and London Stock Exchange Explore Cross-Border Collaboration
NSE IX and the London Stock Exchange sign an MoU to explore dual listings, new financial products, cross-border trading connectivity and market-data distribution to strengthen India-UK capital-market links.
NSE IFSC Limited (NSE IX) and the London Stock Exchange (LSE) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore strategic collaboration aimed at strengthening financial market connectivity between India and the United Kingdom. The agreement seeks to expand cross-border growth opportunities and introduce new listing and trading options for companies and investors in both markets.
The MoU establishes a framework for exploring dual listings and cross-listings across equities, fixed-income securities and exchange-traded funds (ETFs). These arrangements could provide companies with access to investors in both jurisdictions and broaden investment opportunities across the two financial markets.

The exchanges will also assess opportunities to facilitate trading in existing financial products and develop new offerings. One area under consideration is the introduction of derivative products on NSE IX that use FTSE Russell indices as underlying benchmarks. The partners will additionally explore the joint development of new equity indices and the distribution of market data.
Another key focus is the potential development of cross-border trading connectivity between the two exchanges. The proposed connection could support trading opportunities in both directions, expand investor participation and improve access to capital across India and the UK. However, the agreement is exploratory, and specific products and implementation timelines have not yet been finalised.
NSE IX Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer V. Balasubramaniam said the collaboration builds on opportunities emerging from the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), which aims to strengthen economic ties and encourage integration in financial services. He highlighted the potential for dual listings, cross-listings and improved market connectivity to widen investor access and liquidity.
Dame Julia Hoggett, Chief Executive Officer of the London Stock Exchange, said the agreement would strengthen the exchanges’ relationship and help them explore new growth opportunities for companies and investors.

The partnership brings together NSE IX’s presence in GIFT International Financial Services Centre (GIFT IFSC) with the London Stock Exchange’s international capital-market network. By examining new products and cross-border trading arrangements, both exchanges aim to create additional channels for capital formation and investment between the two countries.
