
Piyush Goyal Begins Finland Visit, Two MoUs Signed

Commerce and Industry Union Minister Mr. Piyush Goyal begins his official visit to Finland which is an important milestone for economic and strategic partnership between both nations. The outcome of the visit involves the signing of two MoUs between the institutions, ensuring further cooperation in trade, investments, innovations, and industries. These MoUs reflect the mutual commitment of both India and Finland towards greater business partnership.
On this occasion, Goyal meets at high levels with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Finland, Riikka Purra, and the Minister of Economic Affairs of Finland, Sakari Puisto. This is followed by discussions on expanding economic and financial cooperation, investments, business relations, and collaboration in digitalization and new technologies. The two sides also look into ways in which they can use the proposed India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA) for their economic engagement.

These two MoUs that have been signed during the visit are meant to promote cooperation between the respective industrial organizations and business community in India and Finland. It is anticipated that the signing of these two MoUs will result in increased investments and will promote joint ventures and innovations. Innovation and technology continue to form core components of the bilateral discussion. Both the countries highlight artificial intelligence, 6G communications, quantum technology, semiconductor technology, green energy, sustainability, startups, and R&D as areas of collaboration in the future. The two leaders stress the need for synergy between the manufacturing strengths of India along with its digital economy and the advanced technologies and innovation expertise of Finland.
He is also a member of the India-Finland Business Roundtable, through which he interacts with the leaders of the industries for investments and business relations. This discussion brings out the rising importance of India as a global manufacturing and investment hub. It is likely to bring about new collaborations in advanced manufacturing, cleantechs, health care, IT solutions, and sustainable industries.

The trip to Finland is the concluding part of the Goyal-led tour of multiple European countries which include Spain and Belgium.
