Vikram Misri Meets Chinese Vice Minister in Beijing

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri met senior CPC leader Liu Jianchao in Beijing to review India–China relations, strengthen political dialogue, enhance bilateral cooperation, and promote regional peace through sustained diplomatic engagement.

Foreign Minister Vikram Misri had a discussion with Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, in Beijing, as India keeps up its diplomacy with China. This discussion was aimed at evaluating the existing relations and exploring ways to stabilise and build cooperation between the two neighbors. The discussion is part of the continuing efforts to have regular contact between the two countries after some diplomatic steps towards normalization of their relations.

Both of them exchanged opinions during the talks regarding the changing dynamics between India and China and the significance of consistent diplomatic efforts. Both of them stressed that there was a necessity to build more effective communication channels and increase mutual trust and constructive dialogue to tackle common concerns. The talks also underlined the significance of political exchanges in establishing a sound basis for cooperation in other areas as well.

Issues relating to regions and the world were a key part of the discussions. It should be added that the issue of economic cooperation was also very significant in the talks. Both parties understood the possibility for the development of cooperation in the spheres of trade, investments, production, and people’s contacts with a view to forming a more balanced economic partnership. In addition, there were prospects for cooperation in other fields, like culture, education, and tourism.
