  • VinFast extends free EV charging in India till 2029.
  • Applies to all new and existing EV owners.
  • Move aims to boost EV adoption in Asia markets.

VinFast, the Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer, has declared the continuation of its complimentary EV charging scheme in main Asian markets like India, Indonesia, and the Philippines until March 31, 2029. This step intends to encourage electric vehicle adoption and help customers cut down on the cost of owning a vehicle.

As per the programme, all VinFast EV owners-old and new-can charge their vehicles without the need to pay at any of the company chargers operated by its affiliate network. Therefore it substantially reduces expenses related to operation which is one major hurdle preventing greater EV adoption in emerging countries.

This scheme is just one element of VinFast's larger plan to increase its presence across Asia and offer people with good, eco-friendly transport options. Through advancing long-term perks like free charging facilities, the company is trying to tilt the balance in favour of electric vehicle ownership over that of traditional petrol vehicles, more so when there is fuel price uncertainty compounded by geopolitical factors which have an impact on consumer behavior.

Meanwhile, the parent group of VinFast has also rolled out short-term promotional programs such as "Trade Gas for Electric,” a campaign which allows customers who are switching from petrol or diesel vehicles to be granted extra discounts. These incentives together are to persuade customers changing to cleaner transport means to do so at a faster pace.

Along with that, the prolongation will result in a support to building VinFast ecosystem, and its continued network and partnership investments in the EV areas in these countries are shown. At the same time, by linking charging stations to car sales, this company is not merely a car manufacturer but a full-stack mobility provider.

On the whole, this initiative is a result of an increasing inventory of EV producers who combine vehicle infrastructure and cost benefits to the offerings to induce adoption in very price sensitive markets, such as India and Southeast Asia.
