The integration will enable the government planners to have granular transactional insights from PhonePe's large digital transaction ecosystem. These insights are anticipated to be complimented with government data and offer extra transparency into market activity and trends in various geographies.

The partnership is designed to help enhance data-led decision-making through the use of more detailed geographic-level data for economic activity analysis. This intelligence can be used to inform decisions about infrastructure, resource allocation and wider economic planning.

Data-driven intelligence can help in better planning and decision making as it will give more visibility on what happens to the markets and regions," MeitY Secretary S. Krishnan said. In this context, he was glad that PhonePe PulsePro insights came at a time when India's development agenda was necessitating such insights.

PhonePe Head of Strategy Karthik Raghupathy stated that PulsePro platform is built on the "Transaction level insights" created by PhonePe Pulse, and adds more granular and hyperlocal market signals that happen in near real time. The company hopes to feed these learnings into a more robust nation-wide data infrastructure and to assist in evidence-based infrastructure planning.

The collaboration introduces private sector digital intelligence into a government planning process, which could enhance an understanding of economic patterns and market activity. PM GatiShakti can have a much wider pool of information to draw from in planning infrastructure and development projects by integrating transaction-based data with geospatial and administrative data currently available.

It also celebrates the increasing importance of digital data in public services decision making. By enabling more reflective planning, access to timely and geographically relevant economic intelligence can help in achieving more integrated urban and rural development in India as the country continues to scale up its infrastructure.

The purpose of the MoU is to enhance data capabilities for PM GatiShakti and its contribution to holistic, data-driven national development planning in digital payment.
