Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launches the integration of IAFIS with SAKSHAM, along with new digital finance initiatives, as the Defence Accounts Department marks its 279th Annual Day.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has launched the integration of the Indian Army Financial Information System (IAFIS) with the Defence Accounts Department’s (DAD) SAKSHAM platform as the department marks its 279th Annual Day in New Delhi. The initiative is part of a broader push to strengthen digital financial management across the Ministry of Defence.
The integration was launched at the Dr D.S. Kothari Auditorium, DRDO Bhawan. Alongside IAFIS- SAKSHAM integration, the Defence Minister also launched the revamped National Compilation System (NCS) for the Ministry of Defence and the Payment Routing and Integrated System Management (PRISM) platform. The initiatives are intended to support greater integration of defence financial systems and improve the management of payments, accounting and expenditure information. The DAD provides financial services to the Defence Forces and the Ministry of Defence, including internal audit, accounting, financial advice and defence pensions management.
Addressing the event, Singh called for stronger use of technology in defence financial management. He emphasised the need for maintaining clean and well-managed digital data and suggested moving towards systems that can provide an updated view of the department’s financial position without waiting for periodic reports.
He also highlighted the role of artificial intelligence in detecting financial fraud and urged the DAD to remain at the forefront of technology adoption. Singh also noted that expenditure booking for 2025-26 had reached nearly 100 percent, describing it as the result of coordinated efforts by the DAD and the three armed services.
During the annual day celebrations, the Defence Minister released the Comprehensive Statistical Handbook on Defence Expenditure (COSHE) 2026, the department’s Hindi magazine Raksha Lekha Bharati, and the Market Intelligence Report 2025-26. A short film on SPARSH, the Defence Ministry’s pension administration system, was also scheduled for release.

The Raksha Mantri Awards for Excellence 2026 were also conferred on DAD officers and staff for their contributions to key initiatives.
