Netanyahu and Modi Discuss Ties and West Asia Crisis

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reviewed the India–Israel Special Strategic Partnership and discussed the evolving situation in West Asia, reaffirming their commitment to stronger bilateral cooperation.

A telephonic discussion was held between the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, and the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, in which both the leaders evaluated the progress made under the special strategic partnership between India and Israel and discussed the developing situation in the West Asia region.

As per the statement from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), both the leaders have acknowledged the continued progress on various fronts in India-Israel relations, and emphasized their commitment to enhance cooperation in those fields where there is mutual interest. The India-Israel partnership has been increasing cooperation in areas like defense, agriculture, water, innovation, cybersecurity, science and technology, business and investments, among others, thus making it one of the most important parts of India’s West Asian engagement.

Furthermore, the officials also talked about the prevailing situation in the West Asian region, which continues to remain geopolitically challenging for the world. They shared their views regarding the security situation in the region and its wider ramifications, stressing on the significance of sustained dialogue and diplomacy. Despite no information being released regarding the conversation, it can be seen as an example of the regular dialogues held by both the nations.

In the aftermath of the dialogue, the Indian Prime Minister posted on social media platforms that he had examined the status of the Special Strategic Partnership between India and Israel with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and discussed the situation prevailing in West Asia. In addition, the PMO highlighted that both the leaders reiterated their resolve to enhance cooperation in different fields for mutual gain.

This phone call takes place in the wake of ongoing progress in Indo-Israeli relations, which have seen cooperation increase with the help of political interaction and economic and strategic cooperation. The relationship between the two nations has grown to become much more wide-ranging, covering issues such as military manufacturing, technology, agriculture, renewable energy, technology start-ups, health care, and research collaborations.
