Singapore Deputy PM Gan Kim Yong visits India from October 13 to 15 to strengthen economic ties, meet business leaders and explore cooperation in manufacturing, infrastructure, renewable energy and advanced technologies.

Singapore Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy, Trade and Industry Gan Kim Yong is visiting India from October 13 to 15, 2026, to strengthen bilateral economic cooperation and expand engagement with Indian government officials, businesses and institutions. The visit includes meetings in New Delhi and Chennai, with discussions expected to focus on investment, manufacturing, infrastructure, renewable energy and advanced technologies.

During his stay in New Delhi on October 13 and 14, Gan will meet senior government officials and business leaders. On October 15, the Singapore deputy prime minister will travel to Chennai to engage with business leaders from India and Singapore. Tamil Nadu is an important economic partner for Singapore, with Singapore-based companies operating across manufacturing, infrastructure, renewable energy, real estate and digital services.

Gan will also meet representatives of ITE Education Services (ITEES), which is implementing the National Centre of Excellence for Advanced Manufacturing in India. The initiative is a bilateral project under the Singapore Cooperation Programme and aims to support advanced manufacturing skills and capabilities.

The visit comes amid continued efforts by both countries to deepen their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. At the fourth India-Singapore Ministerial Roundtable in August 2026, the two sides discussed cooperation in sustainability, digitalisation, skills development, healthcare, advanced manufacturing and connectivity. They also welcomed initiatives to develop emerging industries and create fresh trade and investment opportunities.

The latest engagement follows Indian Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman’s visit to Singapore from October 8 to 11. During the visit, she met Singapore’s senior leadership and global investors to discuss investment opportunities in infrastructure, renewable energy, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, financial services and digitalisation. The discussions also focused on advancing the outcomes of the ministerial roundtable and strengthening business and financial cooperation.
