Tata Electronics to Sign 16 Chip Deals Across India, Global Markets

Tata Electronics plans 16 semiconductor MoUs with global and Indian partners at SEMICON India 2026, covering equipment, materials, chemicals and infrastructure while advancing its Dholera and Assam projects.

Tata Electronics will be signing 16 Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) with global and Indian firms at the SEMICON India 2026 event, as part of its growing portfolio of collaborations within the semiconductor supply chain. These MoUs will include deals with countries such as Europe, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, India, among others.

The announcements for the proposed partnerships come on the opening of SEMICON India 2026 by the Tata Electronics CEO Randhir Thakur. The collaboration is set to bring about the integration of special competencies necessary for the various processes involved in semiconductor manufacturing.

The list includes Nexperia and BESI from Europe, as well as JSR, Fujifilm, Sumitomo, Sojitz, and Ajinomoto from Japan. Apart from these, the company is also forming strategic alliances with the Malaysian company named Callington and other organizations based in Singapore. The partners from India include L&T Semiconductors, Inox Air Products, Semiconductor Laboratory, and Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya. Other firms from America, Europe, and India will also be involved in the agreements.

The latest move is part of the efforts being made by Tata Electronics to increase its manufacturing capacity for semiconductors in India. According to Thakur, the semiconductor fabrication plant at Dholera in Gujarat and packaging plant at Jagiroad in Assam are on course to fulfill all the promises that have been made to the government.

Tata Electronics is not only increasing its employees but also increasing its industrial system as well. The company claims to have generated more than 1.5 lakh employment opportunities, while the Dholera scheme is attracting the involvement of a vast network of suppliers and technology partners. About 300 graduates from various Indian universities are also being trained at the facilities of Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation in Taiwan.

The proposed deals come after Tata Electronics has already formed collaboration with ASML, which is a leading semiconductor lithography equipment supplier. The deals are intended to help the company form its manufacturing capacities and develop its semiconductor supply chain in India.

The announcement comes at a time when India is expanding its semiconductor program under Semicon India 2.0, where focus will be on the design, manufacturing, packaging, tools, material, and development of people. The increasing portfolio of Tata Electronics of international and domestic collaborations provides yet another dimension to this, whereby India’s manufacturing ventures are being linked with the specific global technology expertise.
